Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni arrives in Chennai for the much anticipated third edition of the Indian Premier League, beginning from March 14.

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK), a franchisee of India Cements, would be practicing at the M A Chidambaram Stadium from March 08 till 13th, when Dhoni would address the pre-match conference

It looks like Thala is in a great spirit and full tempo to make ‘Asal’ a smash hit of 2010.

The latest we hear about this landmark project of Ajith is that its shoot is up and running in AVM Studios.

The art director of the film, M Prabhakar has erected a set and the ‘Asal’ was seen busy canning a song sequence. The sources in the know had it that a song that goes like “Athiri Puthiri Pannikada, Yedhiri Unakku Illaiyada” was shot for which Ajith was shaking legs with his arm candy, Bhavana. Dance Master Raju Sundharam has choreographed for the song composed by Bharadwaj and Y KINZ.

The shoot and the post production work of this Sivaji production’s action extravaganza is getting done on the double as the film is scheduled to be released for Republic Day.

Ajith’s Asal is almost over except for the two songs which have to be picturised. One of the songs is likely to be shot abroad while the other will be on a studio set in Chennai.

The crucial marketing of the film is yet to start, and the release date now more or less hinges on it. A Mumbai based corporate is said to be interested in buying this action adventure film directed by Saran, if the price is right.

Meanwhile it is more or less confirmed that Asal will not release for Pongal 2010. The date that producer Ram Kumar is thinking about is January 26. Remember a lot of his dad’s films the late thespian Sivaji Ganesan’s films used to release on Republic day. It used to be Sivaji’s close friend and producer late K.Balaji’s lucky release day.

So for the first time ever Pongal 2010 will not have any superstar releases, though it will be sandwiched between two big releases Ilayathalapathy’s Vettaikaran on December 18 and Thalai’s Asal on January 26.

•Login with your User ID and Login Password only after verifying the above security details
•The original ICICI Bank login page will never ask customers upfront for Transaction Passwords as that is required only and exclusively for the execution of an actual transaction
•You may provide personal details over phone/Internet only if you have initiated a call or session and only after you have duly verified and authenticated the other party.
What to do if you have accidentally revealed password/PIN/TIN etc:

If you feel that you have been phished or you have provided your personal information at a place you should not have, please carry out following immediately as a damage mitigation measure:

Going by the title of it, if you thought Vedigundu Murugesan was a comedy that will have you in splits, you are grossly mistaken. It is, however, in the disguise of comedy, not the one that will give you a few good laughs, the one that will make you slip into depression for having squandered your time and money.

It’s not that Pasupathy cannot shoulder off the responsibility of a full-length comedy film, but just that the movie lacks a definitive subject, more so with the screenplay, dialogues, the flow and hence the performances. The movie provides some real comical relief as and when Vadivelu makes an entry. And that’s not because of Vadivelu’s clever antics; we are so used to laughing at the man that his mere screen presence is enough to stimulate a few laughs.

Pasupathy’s character lacks depth and it almost feels as if he’s hired to play the part of a petty criminal only for his looks. Jyothirmayi plays a police constable whose major responsibility is to transport Pasupathy to the court every time he is arrested. Love blossoms. But Pasupathy gets into further trouble and lands up in prison. Well, that’s pretty much the story.

As is obvious, there is nothing much to rave about the story and ditto with the performances and the direction. Awful dialogues, in the guise of comedy only tests your patience further as you are busy stifling yawns. The Cheenichevu Sirippukaari song provides the only respite in an otherwise trite commotion of events. But then, you can always download the song onto your mobile or just watch it on TV when it’s played.
